Take a hike..

Literally.

That’s what I did this weekend. I took a hike with my sister. We started the day early and drove to Devil’s Lake State Park by Baraboo. If you live in Wisconsin and you haven’t gone. Go. It was beautiful.

The weather was perfect. Well, until the last half of our hike which seemed to be ALL uphill. Both ways. In the snow. Just kidding. About the snow part. And my body started sweating out every last drop of moisture in it. I was gross. But I felt good. We hiked about 5 miles and it was the most difficult hike we’ve taken so far. The others we have done were a breeze compared to this one. Though, it doesn’t help when you go rogue and somehow find yourself off the trail. No matter. We got ourselves back on the trail. Twice. Yes, we need some map reading lessons. And no one was injured.

No baking was done this weekend. Just cooking. I made two batches of enchiladas for the freezer since I’m trying to be a better dinner planner. Pork pot stickers will be made, hopefully tonight. Though that depends on how I feel after I get home from work. I will be baking this weekend. We are going to my mother-in-law’s for a fish fry and I have been tasked with dessert. I shouldn’t say tasked. That sounds like I don’t like bringing dessert. And well, that’s just not the case. Still trying to decide what to bring, although I already had input from the hubby. He wants French Silk Pie and Lemon Meringue Cupcakes. We’ll see. Maybe a third will have to be thrown in, because I just can’t help myself….
