Winding Down

Now that Christmas has come and gone, the realization that 2015 is almost over is hitting hard. Where oh where did the year go?? It was a blur.

Christmas was wonderful. Spending time with family is great. Especially listening to the musings of my 5 year old niece. That girl cracks me up. I received awesome gifts from everyone but my most favorite by far was from Andy. He was pretty secretive about it for awhile. He worked on it after his normal working hours and on the weekends and he did an amazing job!

I see LOTS of baking in the year ahead!

The top is an old woodworking table from one of the old schools in the area. It is beautiful. I sat and stared at it all day after he brought it home.

The space is MUCH needed in our kitchen. We barely have room to be in the kitchen at the same time. So this is the perfect solution. He put casters on the bottom as well so we can move it around as we please.

I’m thinking about putting some baskets on the shelves but for now, it’s perfect.

It is nice now that the holiday season is winding down. It was far too busy for awhile there! I decided on a whim to take this Wednesday and Thursday off even though we don’t really do anything for New Year’s Eve. Ours consists of a nice meal at home and going to bed WAY before the ball drops. Sleep is more important!

I took a little break from baking this weekend since the lead up to Christmas was insane. I managed three desserts for Christmas day: Meyer Lemon Curd Tart (and tartlets), Mint Ice Cream Dessert and French Silk Pie. the Meyer Lemon Curd Tart turned out so well that I apparently forgot to take pictures of it. No worries though, as you can see from the pictures above, I have an entire meyer lemon tree sitting on top of my kitchen cart. Will definitely be making that recipe again and maybe some lemon curd as well.

I hope your Christmas was wonderful and here’s to the New Year!

Ann
